In assessing the eight leading apps in the food recipe domain, a comprehensive examination was conducted, encompassing both recipe preferences and overall user experience as reflected in app store comments.
Positive Findings: The apps present a vast array of recipe options, catering to diverse user tastes and preferences. This abundance allows users to effortlessly explore and discover their ideal dishes, whether for daily meals or special occasions, thereby enhancing user satisfaction and engagement.
Challenges Identified: However, a notable challenge arises in the functionality of the Filter & Search feature, particularly concerning vegetarian food. Users have reported encountering issues where non-vegetarian options are displayed, compromising the accuracy and dependability of the app’s food recommendations.
Issues from User Comments: Moreover, feedback from users highlights specific shortcomings. Concerns raised include a lack of consideration for dietary restrictions such as allergies to dairy or soy, leading to frustration in customizing search criteria. Additionally, users have expressed dissatisfaction with the quantity of recipes available relative to their preferences, compounded by an excessive presence of advertisements within the apps.

Design Process
Flow Diagram Creation: Initially, a simple flow diagram was crafted to outline the primary tasks users can perform within the application. This diagram served as a visual representation of the user journey, detailing main flows while considering fail states, although not depicted due to space limitations.
Low-Fidelity Wireframes: Following the establishment of the flow diagram, low-fidelity wireframes were created to visualize the main user flows. These wireframes provided a basic structure for the app’s interface, focusing on layout and functionality without delving into finer design details.
High-Fidelity UI Design: Subsequently, the design process transitioned to high-fidelity UI design, beginning with the creation of key screens within the application. This phase involved defining fonts, colors, and visual elements to establish the overall aesthetic and user interface style.
Alignment & Grid Setup: To ensure consistency and coherence in design elements, an 8-point grid system was adopted for the project. This grid system encompassed both vertical and horizontal rhythm, with specific parameters for spacing, margins, gutters, columns, and rows. The column grid was defined with a count of 4, type set to stretch, and margins and gutters set accordingly. Similarly, the row grid was configured with specific parameters to maintain alignment and spacing throughout the interface design.
Weaknesses
It can be overwhelming for new users, with a lot of features and options that may be difficult to navigate confusing terminology and jargon. Finally, Customer support can be slow to respond, which can be frustrating for users who need help with issues.
